The Student Christian Movement at the Australian Catholic University in 2008.

The Student Christian Movement at the Australian Catholic University started a discussion group called Questions of Faith early this year.

Every week during the Wednesday common hour we invite a guest speaker who presents a short paper on a controversial or important subject.

We then spend the rest of the hour discussing and debating the issues.

It's a great opportunity for people to engage their faith in a searching and thoughtful way!

We also make sure that we provide snacks for people to munch on while discussing the issues of the world.

Discussion topics include:

  1. Peter and Paul: Tales of Two Churches which was very interesting regarding the fighting factions in the early Church.
  2. World Youth Day: Is Christianity Wasted on the Young? This should provide some interesting debate!
  3. New Ways of Reading the Scriptures This opens up fresh ways of interpreting the scriptures.

Our group ranges anywhere from 6 - 15 people, with a core group of approx 5 people.

We attract people from all walks in the university, from undergrads, staff members, lecturers, ordination candidates, and post-graduates.

All contributions add to the richness of the discussion and enjoyment of the day!!
