As an ASCM member, you become eligible for lots of travelling opportunities! Our branch retreats allow for comfortable relaxing among friends, and fun times with port and chocolate! We also have National Conferences annually, which are hosted by different states each year. These conferences are a great opportunity to get to know other ASCMers from around the country and build up our ASCM community. Through workshops, worship, discussion of social justice issues, prayer, and relaxation, ASCM conferences replenish our desire for active Christian lives of intelligent faith and contemplation.
ASCM members are also eligible for international travel opportunities. We have also sent representatives to WSCF conferences in places such as Korea, Thailand, and India. The wealth of experience and knowledge that these representatives bring back to Australia is shared with the wider movement on their return.
The WSCF holds a General Assembly every four years. This is a gathering of SCMers from movements all around the world. The WSCF regions take turns holding the event. The next one is in 2008 in the North America Region.
WSCF Asia-Pacific organises several regional programmes each year, which are open to SCM members to attend. Details about previous and coming programmes can be found on the WSCF-AP website. Everyone who wants to attend a conference is asked to fill in an application form.
People who have been on WSCF programs are expected to write a report to let members know a bit about their experiences. The WSCF page provides some details of these.
The main ASCM programme is the annual National Conference which is usually held in July during the university mid-year break. It is open to everyone and a great way to make new friends and re-energize your faith and commitment.
The July General Committee (JGC) meeting normally takes place directly after the National Conference. In addition, the Executive Committee usually meets in January. Some members will be expected to attend these meetings (see the Structure page for details) but everyone is welcome to contribute.
Minutes of recent meetings are available from the Publications page.
